Southwest Launches First-Ever Nonstop Flights Between Las Vegas And Hilo

  1. Southwest began nonstop service between Las Vegas and Hilo, Hawaii on Aug. 6, 2026 — the first-ever direct mainland connection to Hilo.
  2. Flights run three times a week (Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays), with westbound departures from Las Vegas at 9:30 a.m. arriving in Hilo at 12:35 p.m.
  3. Hilo lost its last nonstop mainland connection in 2023 when United ended its Los Angeles route, leaving a three-year gap the new route fills.

Southwest Airlines has launched the first-ever nonstop flights between Las Vegas and Hilo, giving Hawaii's Big Island a direct mainland connection for the first time since 2023.

Why it matters

The route is aimed at Las Vegas's large Hawaiian community and gives Big Island-bound travelers a new nonstop option after three years without one.

What to watch

Southwest has also lined up one-off charter flights from Las Vegas to Hilo timed to Hawaii's Merrie Monarch Festival, suggesting more Hawaii-focused scheduling could follow.
